The vocational guidance is an important part of vocational education.In order to help students successfully transit from school life to theircareers, studies on vocational guidance are critical.This article reviews the developing history of vocational guidance inChina with references of international experiences, and the experiences inconducting recent studies of vocational guidance in Zhejiang schools. Inaddition, the present situation and the existence questions on the technicalcolleges of vocational guidance are discussed. Based on that, severalfeasible recommendations about how to develop the career education in ahigh standard level are proposed.Firstly, this essay analyses the three concepts (employment guidance,vocational guidance and career education) and the relationship among them.It is concluded that the three concepts are not only inconsistent but alsohave different scope and dispersed on different level.Secondly, according to the review of the developing processes ofChinese and foreign vocational guidance, the article summarizes theadvanced and useful experiences of abroad and home. That is, guaranteeingand promoting the development of vocational guidance with the legalmeans; perfecting the cooperation network system of vocational guidance;utilizing the modern education technologies fully; thinking highly of thevocational guidance propaganda and testing work and so on.Thirdly, by sampling some technical colleges of Zhejiang, the articleanalyses the present states of vocational guidance from different aspects: working conditions, content means and students' feedback. Moreover, itillustrates the problems and causes, such as deviation in cognitions,inadequate prepares in theories, shortage of software and hardware,unsatisfactory operation effect, imbalanced development in theinter-scholastic and so on. Furthermore, it is suggested that the vocationalguidance should be evolved to career education and career educationsystem should be conducted initially.Fourthly, issues about whether it is necessary and feasible to constitutecareer education in technical colleges are discussed. Transformationsshould be conducted in six aspects and attentions should be focused on:people instead of occupation; pursuing happiness instead of making aliving; specialization instead of appending to administration; entire journeyeducation instead of just employing guidance before graduation;combination of collective instruction and individual education instead ofsingle collective instruction; more evaluation methods instead of sole one.Finally, based on the analysis, the countermeasures of problems are asfollowed: transforming the thoughts; formulating the correlative laws andregulations; building a free environments of policy and system;implementing the career education content through entire process anddivided stage; strengthening the construction of teachers; building thecomprehensive systematic socialized projects.
