The chemistry course of full-time compulsory education and the system of chemistry curriculum is made according to Reforming Outline of the Curriculum of Basic Education (contemporary) issued by the State Council, resulting in the shaping of the brand-new chemistry curriculum facing the 21st century in middle schools. The new curriculum has a new orientation for the students'overall development, and puts up with the integration of three dimensional goals---knowledge and skill, process and method, attitude and value, all of which are integrated in the new courses and the procedure of teaching and learning. In order to meet the needs of the sustainable development of society and science and technology in the 21st century, and train talents who meet the needs of our time, the new chemistry curriculum has put up with new strategy and thoughts of teaching,which pays great attention on situated teaching. This paper probes into that problem and mainly falls into three parts.The first part mainly deals with the new strategy and thoughts of chemistry curriculum and the related theories of situated teaching and learning. According to these theories and the new thoughts proposed by the new curriculum standard, we can see that situated teaching is significant for promoting teaching and realizing the three dimensional goals.The second part focus on the present situation of the students. In the traditional way of teaching, teachers cannot present the students with vivid situation of abundance and complexity, as a result, the students have difficulty in systemize what they have learned. Today, constructivism has an increasing influence on education. Under that background, this paper discusses about the significance of situated teaching and how to implement it, and also emphasizes that through this way students can display great initiative in study.The third part presents three examples of situated teaching implemented by the author, which shows the great importance and fruitful achievements of creating teaching situations during the process of teaching. In this part there are two main positive researches: one is the poll on students'interest in studying chemistry through the way of situated teaching, and the other is the poll on creating imaginary laboratory to help students learn how to dilute sulfuric acid.In a word, it is an important factor to create a good teaching situation in the process of teaching. A sensitive and improved teaching situation is a basic guarantee of students'active involvement in the study. It is a spur for the students to become more active and eager to learn, and help them to study both with great interest and with satisfactory results. The research I have done in the field of situated teaching is far from enough. I will make more improvement in the process of teaching practice.
