With the research methods of field research, discussions, questionnaires survey, data statistics and summarization, this paper conducts comprehensive research on China's college physical teachers'qualities, abilities and cultivated strategies in the new century.Based on the theories of PE (Physical Education) modernization and globalization, this article elaborates the essence of China PE and deems that the education globalization promotes the revolution and infuses neoteric historic connotation into of PE in China. Study shows that the development of China's PE leads to the transformation of not only the form of college PE but the target, contents, results of PE, all of which reflect the changes of requirements on PE in this society. Therefore, every PE teacher should adjust himself/herself in time, study new theories and review the functions of PE.By analysis of the current situation, at the beginning, this article specifies the various existing problems in China PE: closure, overloaded specification and termination of academic advanced studies which lead to the lagging PE ideas; tedious and simple teaching Methodology and ideology; simple and narrow academic background; lack of professional dedication; lack of thirst for knowledge, competition sprit and creation; the weak abilities in scientific research and so on.Study shows that the qualifications of PE teachers with the background of PE modernization should include: (1) the professional moral;(2) academic knowledge; (3) innovation; (4) human communication skills. Experts regard the possessed abilities for the physical teachers involve: (1)crosswise and synthetically use of knowledge; (2) the use of modern information teaching methods; (3)the application of teaching and trading skills and development of innovation; (4) the ability of scientific research; (5) the ability of continued learning and self-study.Form the view of development, the training strategies of physical teachers should cover the following aspects: (1) optimizing PE modes; (2) establishing the unified mode; (3) promoting the information-based teacher cultivation; (4) clarifying the concepts of physical education.
