Nowadays, governments worldwide all pay much more attention to moral education. Universities whose mission is to educate qualified successors of the socialist culture therefore become potential human resources. Thus, moral education in colleges and universities is particularly important. The main character of Chinese moral education in colleges and universities is dominant. The aim of moral education is to pursuit the groups and social values, and its core theory is Marxism. Moral education in China is holistic and systemic, but lack of hierarchy in some certain. Classrooms are the main places where the implementation of moral education happens. Moral Education in China emphasizes changing thoughts through theoretical study and pays more attention to theories than practice, and so it affects the moral education. Since the 1980s, the mental education in the USA achieved good results. American universities'moral objective is individual, focusing on improving the perfect personality and personal pursuit of the ideals and rights of individuals, and its political goals in moral education are veiled. Its moral education is structured with particular emphasis on history education, roots on practice and believes in diverse moral autonomy. Its main characters are comprehensive permeable, practical, with service and religious nature. We should reflect the new situation of Chinese moral education, continue using the good experience, and adopt the successful experience in the United States'universities. So we can strengthen and improve ours. This article takes comparative study as a focal point and organizes it through three aspects: the goal, the content and the approach of moral education both in universities of China and the USA. At last, offering six paths to the solution of improving moral education in China: First, universities should pay more attention to moral education and intensify political education; Second, to establish the main mode of moral education, accept the dominant position of the students; Third, we must focus on the hierarchy of content in moral education, and distinct the political and moral education; Fourth, universities should emphasize psychological counseling and combine psychological and moral health education; Fifth, strengthen history education and implement patriotism through history education; Sixth, improve the method of moral education, and combine dominant and recessive education.
