Social creativity differs from artistic creativity and scientific creativity.Social creativity is a kind of creativity existing in the field of everyday social communication and activities. It is a type of individual quality which helps to deal with social problems in an original and unique, appropriate and efficient way. Social creativity is the creative performance in social activities. Social creativity has not only something in common but something unique with other kinds of creativity. Social creativity is influenced by parenting style, social avoidance and distress.Based on literature retrievals, open personal interviews, the author developed the Questionnaire of Social Creativity for Undergraduates. The questionnaire, EMBU, and Social Avoidance and Anxiety Questionnaire was administered to 1,064 undergraduates. The results of the research were as follows.(1) The Questionnaire of Social Creativity for Undergraduates had good reliability and validity. By the factor analysis, five principal factors of the quality of problem solving, the influence among peers, the confidence in social interaction, the autonomy in social interaction and the ability of social interaction were extracted.(2) Generally speaking, there was no gender difference on undergraduates' social creativity. But the obvious gender difference existed in the quality of problem solving. Undergraduates' social creativity was generally the same for the students who majored in different professions, but different between the students of humanistic arts and those of science in the quality of problem solving. The difference resulted from the students' different backgrounds and students from urban areas, town and rural areas differed from each other in the total score of social creativity and interpersonal belief. They were also different in the quality of problem solving and the influence among peers.(3) Parenting style could significantly predicted the undergraduates' social creativity, and fraternal emotional warmth and maternal rejection could predicted positively their social creativity, and maternal harshness and punishment could predicted negatively their social creativity.(4) The quality of problem solving, the influence among peers, the confidence in social interaction and the ability of social interaction could predicted negatively undergraduates' social avoidance and distress.(5) Undergraduates' social creativity is playing intermediary role in the ways of, Parenting Style, Social avoidance and distress and inter communication.
