Social creativity differs from artistic creativity and scientific creativity. Social creativity is a kind of creativity existing in the field of everyday social communication and activities. It is a type of individual quality which helps to deal with social problems in an original and unique, appropriate and efficient way. Social creativity is the creative performance in social activities. Social creativity has not only something in common but something unique with other kinds of creativity.Based on literature retrievals, open personal interviews, the author developed the Questionnaire of Social Creativity for Middle School Students. The questionnaire, EMBU, and Social Avoidance and Anxiety Questionnaire and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire was administered to the students to investigate the characteristics of social creativity of high school students and the relevant factors. The results of the research were as follows.(1) The Questionnaire of Social Creativity for middle school students had good reliability and validity. By the factor analysis, five principal factors of the quality of the influence among peers, problem solving, the autonomy in social interaction, the ability of social interaction and the confidence in social interaction were extracted.(2) Generally speaking, there was no gender difference on middle school students' social creativity. But the obvious gender difference existed in the confidence in social interaction. And obvious grade differences existed in the overall social creativity, problem solving, the autonomy in social interaction and the confidence in social interaction.(3) Parents' emotional warmth could significantly predict the students' social creativity positively, and maternal harshness and punishment could predict their social creativity negatively.(4) The autonomy in social interaction, the confidence in social interaction, the quality of problem solving, the influence among peers could predict middle school students' social avoidance and distress negatively.(5) The social creativity was positively correlated with the Extroversion and Psychoticism of EPQ, and it was negatively correlated with the Neuroticism. They could explain 40.4 percent, 5.5 percent, 12.0 percent of the Social Creativity.(6) The social creativity mediated the relationship between father's emotional warmth and social avoidance and distress.
