With the rise of knowledgy economy, the development of information technology, the globalization of economy, the adjustment of industrial structure and the renovation of manufacture technologies, all of these require higher standards of men's all-round qualities and the abilities of sustainable development, and the reforms of vocational education curricula and teaching contents is a very important aspect. The seperations of academic curricula and vocational curricula, school-based curricula and work-based curricula, the curricula of secondary vocational education and higher vocational education, has been becoming the common issues of contemporary vocational education reforms and development all over the world. But how to combine them? The America's"curriculum consolidation"helps to the curriculum and teaching reforms of vocational education. This article has researched on the curriculum consolidation of American secondary vocational education since the 1990s, in hopes of making some references for layout and consolidation of academic curricula and vocational curricula, school-based curricula and work-based curricula, and the curricula of secondary vocational education and higher vocational education in China.This paper mainly have several parts, as follows:Introduction briefly summarizes reform of American vocational education, defines the idea of"curriculum consolidation"and the research situation, then states the meaning of this paper and its research values and methods.Partâ… has discussed the background of the curriculum consolidation of American secondary vocational education since the 1990s, and the main point is that with the development of times, the idea of new vocationlism brings out in America, and the problems of American secondary vocational education, promote the curriculum consolidation.Partâ…¡detailedly introduces the curriculum consolidation of American secondary vocational education since the 1990s, and mainly discusses the ideas,contents,outcomes and problems of curriculum consolidation. I consider that curriculum consolidation has become the main idea of American contemporary vocational education reform, and it have great effects on the development of vocational education.Partâ…¢introduces the pattern of the curriculum consolidation of American secondary vocational education since the 1990s, including:the curriculum consolidation pattern of academic curricula and vacational curricula, the curriculum consolidation pattern of school-based curricula and work-based curricula curricula, and the curriculum consolidation pattern of secondary and higher vocational education.Partâ…£finally analyzes the characteristics of the curriculum consolidation American secondary vocational education. Then I suggests some problems to be sovled in Chinese vocational education curricula, based on the situation of Chinese vocational education curricula.
