For most of the English learners, reading is not only a kind of activity which can be completed by the learner, but also a kind of communication method. The aim of reading is more than to answer some questions or only to master some expressions and sentence structures with the teachers' help. Reading is to gain information first. To teach reading is to train the students' abilities to analyze and solve problems. So, we should pay more and more attention to reading comprehension training in high school English teaching.To some extent, people use languages to complete all kinds of tasks. And the task-based teaching method is the way to make the learners finish all kinds of task through using languages. It takes the students as the main part in the learning activities and pays more attention to learners'participation and the knowledge that they gain from the communicative activities. It also emphasizes the training of abilities and strategies when they finish the task. This thesis will, from both theory and practice, research into how to use the Task-based teaching method to arouse students'colorful imagination and improve their reading abilities in order to form their language using abilities, so that they can learn the language by themselves. Through this we try to prove that Task-based teaching method is a good way to train students'consciousness of creation, improve their reading abilities and make them master the language which they have learned.This thesis consists of five chapters. In Chapter 1 the author analyses the factors which have effects on the students'reading comprehension, the roles that the teacher plays in the teaching processes and the ways dealing with the problem in it. Chapter 2 is a brief introduction of TBLT, mainly including the relevant theories, the definition of a task and TBLT ; the features of a task ;the components of a task; the design principles of a task and the types of tasks,etc.Chapter3 is the key section of the thesis, which combines Task-based teaching method and theory about reading and applies the tasked-based reading teaching method in practice. Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 drew conclusion from the research through the analyses of the data and point out the meaning of the Task-based teaching method in high school reading class.
