Cultivating learners'autonomy and making them become students with the ability of autonomy, is of great significance in the students'lifelong development. But there are a lot of intrinsic disadvantages in our current English teaching. And most of Senior High School s'classroom teachings mainly focus on teachers and aim at grasping basic knowledge and skills. Under the training of the traditional"transmission"teaching model which emphasizes on teaching English language points rather than developing the students'ability to learn, students lose the English ability of independence, initiative, choice and creativity gradually, which makes a great difference from the requirements of autonomous learning putting forward in the new curriculum standards. As for the theoretical research of autonomous learning, although it has a long history, great achievements have been made and it has been applied to the domestic teaching practice, it is not widely carried out and it especially remains blank in the field of English teaching practice. The present paper aims at applying the teaching pattern of autonomous learning to the English teaching practice, to heighten the students'English level, improve their capability of learner autonomy and make themselves capable learners.Firstly, when we have studied the domestic and international theory on autonomous learning and successful experience, we know that autonomous learning in the field of English teaching practice is urgent and necessary. And when we have analyzed various kinds of factor influencing autonomous learning, we summarize several teaching strategies on how to improve the students'capability of autonomous learning. Namely: we should cultivate the students' motivation, training students'learning strategies and build high-efficient teaching pattern which takes learning notes as carrier. It is our duty to foster the students'capability of autonomous learning and improve the efficiency of classroom teaching and teaching quality.Secondly, in order to perform the teaching pattern effectively, it is necessary to construct the process of"twice"preparing lessons first, design the learning notes of each unit before class and fulfill the teaching task. In order to further illustrate the operation of this classroom teaching pattern, present the process of teaching (reading class and vocabulary class) as an example.Finally, analyse and illustrate the problems in using this pattern, and emphasize the necessity and feasibility of developing learner autonomy in senior high school English classroom, and also points out the insufficiencies of this research and sets the goals for further research.
