With the New Course Reform (NCR) in progress, more attention is being given to classroom teaching reform. The paper attempts to discuss classroom discipline maintenance in NCR for senior middle school. Based on detailed knowledge of senior middle school students, we make an analysis of the causes and features of their discipline breakdown. Then, using classification and functions of classroom discipline and basic criteria for discipline maintenance, we analyze observed phenomena by taking notes of successful and unsuccessful instances and conducting follow-up interviews. Finally, it is argued that a deep understanding of classroom discipline breakdown plays a very important role in classroom teaching reform, because it can not only promote professional development of teachers but also help train all-round students.
