The ability of oral communication is one of the most important Chinese abilities for students of intermediate vocational schools. But for a long time, the teaching of oral communication is in lack of attention. The ability of oral communication of students in intermediate vocational schools is poor. The Chinese Teaching Curriculum For Intermediate Vocational Schools in the year 2000 has proposed specific requirements: Students should be able to haveOral communication properly within different circumstances and to different people. Though we do pay certain attention to students' ability of oral communication, our daily teaching and research do more theory than practice and lack sysertmatical teaching…My research is actually guided by the principles of psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and Speech Communication Science, combining the situation of the students in intermediate vocational schools. At the same time, I respect the nature of oral communication courses, and attempt to train the students to improve their thinking ability and skills of language and communication. In this way, they can cope with the difficulties in the future. I do my research in the following aspects: teaching design, process and methods, and evaluation of teaching. My purpose is to discuss the operating system and teaching methods and how to improve the level of oral communication ability of students.
