Christian higher education, which played an important role in the modernization of Chinese education, showed us the earliest system of modern higher education. It was a good example for Chinese modern education in the college organization, curriculum setting, management pattern, and academic degree system and campus culture construction. From the end of the 19th century until 1930s, China society experienced its turbulence: in politics, the Qing Dynasty ended, the Republic of China founded and the country was torn by warlordism; in economy, modern industry and business co-existed with the traditional small-scale peasant economy; in culture and education, Chinese traditional education, western science education and missionary's religion education interlaced each other. Such a conflict mainly occurred in the mid of 1920s. In front of the pressure, Christian educators obliged to reflect deeply the shortcomings of Christian education itself and its relationship with Chinese society, and made an all-round adjustment positively at the end of 1920s.
