Study On The Relationship Between Achivement Motivation And Psychological Health Of Students From Higher Professional Institutions And Universities

Achievement Motivation(AM) is defined as the internal motivation to do the important or valuable work which is regarded by indivadual who is willing to do it and even with a higher standard. The definition of Psychological Health(PH) is a continuous, stable and positive adapting state acting to internal and exernal stimulations by individuals. As a consequence of individual socialization, AM must be affected by a lot of postnatal factors, and also is prerequisite and significant mark of good PH state of individuals. Therefore, there is a tight internal relation of both AM and PH.Although the study of AM and PH of technical institutions and universities students has been booming, the conclusions are greatly varied owing to independent research angles and orientations. But there is rare comparison research of technical institutions and universites. It is urgently nessessary to study both the students'differences existing in AM and PH and their relationship. And foster corresponding teaching approaches and methods in accordance with different types of students. Ams and(SCL--90) are applied to study the questionaire from 300 students. The analysis reveals the following findings:1,No obvious AM level difference between students of technical institutions and universities;2,Male students'general AM is higher than female students; male students having stronger AM expectations and weaker failure- avoiding motivation.3,Only-one students' AM expectation lower than non-only-one students; no distinct diversties in failure-avoiding and total AM.4,Comparing with fathers, mother's education level is more influencial on students'AM ,specially there is a negative relavence between failure- avoiding motivation and mothers' education level.5,As for the problems of physical factors on PH, only-one students is higher than non-only-one; urban students more than rural ones and university students higher than technical students.6,There is obvious positive relavence between parents'education level and physical factors and PH.7,As for the AM expectations there is no obvious relavence between them and all factors of PH and for the failure -- avoiding and total Am,clear relation can be seen:the more motivated to avoid defeat, the worse PH problems; the greater total AM, thus, the less PH problems.
