By using the Self - Concept Test (SCT), theAchievement Motivation Scale (AMS)and the Self-report SympthomInventory Checklist - 90 (Scl - 90), the author investigated 382 collegestudents and the results of this research show:1. The self - concept of private college students is significantlyhigher than that of public ones, while high social and ability self -concept are the common features of the two types of students. The self-concept of urban and single children college students is higher thanthat of rural and non-single children ones at remarkable level.2. The self-concept of college students is greatly influenced byprofession and educational level of their parents.3. The achievement motivation of college students of science isnotably higher than that of ones of arts and the achievement motivationis influenced more by mother than by father.4. College students of male and science have the better mentalhealth condition than those of female and arts.5. The self-concept,achievement motivation and mental health ofcollge students are apparently correlated with one another. The academicachievement is extraordinarily correlated with self - concept andachievement motivation while it has no striking correlation with mentalhealth.
