The student-teacher relationship in the college is one of the most fundamental and important interpersonal relations during the process of teaching and research. And also, it directly affects the colleges'teaching activity. The topic of this paper is established under the research background of the need of higher education reform, the need of teachers'work and the healthy growth of students. There is great theoretical and practical significance to research on the relationship between teachers and students in college.Through daily observation, literature analysis and comparative study, the paper explains the changes in the student-teacher relationship in the college as well as the causes and the impact of changes. First, this paper expounds on the concept and content of the student-teacher relationship from the view of teaching relationship, social ethic relationship and emotional relationship. Then, it discusses the relationship between teachers and students in college from the view of pedagogy, psychology and ethics. This relationship is characterized by interaction and conflict between teachers and students. Subsequently, the paper expounds on the changes of the student-teacher relationship, because of the different stages of the macroeconomic environment, which is from the ancient to the contemporary period. Then, this paper analyzes the traditional teacher-student relationship in the college, and explains the drawbacks of traditional relationship, such as the incorrect orientation of the teacher, the cold teacher-student relationship, immoderate authoritative image of teachers, the cultural conflict between teachers and students, etc. Furtherly, the paper analyzes the causes of the problems, which is mainly due to the inheritance of the ancient teacher-student concept, the popularity of utilitarianism education and the complete macro-control of the state to colleges. After analyzing the problems of the traditional student-teacher relationship, the paper points out the appearance of a new type of student-teacher relationship that is service-consumption type student-teacher relationship. Also, the paper discusses the background of this new type of student-teacher relationship. But the change from the traditional student-teacher relationship to this new one maybe gives rise to many problems, such as difficulties in changing attitudes of university teachers, the puzzlement of teaching and difficulties in the management.Therefore, the teachers and students should take a positive and progressive attitude, try to establish a kind of equal, democratic and cooperative relations. In order to build this kind of relationship, we should draw the essence of the traditional student-teacher relationship concept, combine the service-consumption type student-teacher relationship and the traditional student-teacher relationship etc.
