In recent years, great changes have taken place and continue to take place in each field of China today: in the economic field, respect for market mechanism, knowledge, creativity and entity consciousness is more and more needed and reflected; in the political field, respect for democracy and legal system is more and more emphasized, and much emphasis is put on the participation dynamics and quality of individual in political life; in the ideological field, thought reconstruction and updated civilization belonging to our own nation and based upon ourselves appear more and more urgent; in private living field, a new life style is hoped more urgently to be realized. They are calling for and at the same time portraying the new-type "contemporary Chinese".Under this background, the talents cultivated by the higher vocational and technical education can't be simply understood as to cultivate somebody to engage in a specific job like in the past. Moreover, it can't be regarded as pure teaching of practical method more or less repeated, either. With the changes of times, the dominating effect of knowledge and information makes the employers pay more and more attention to the requirements on ability, which is a distinctive mixture that everybody has and can combine the strict sense of qualification acquired through technical and vocational training with social behavior, cooperation ability, creative initiative and adventurous spirit.Based on these, the thesis firstly analyzes the problems existing in current higher vocational education, and then analyzes from the problem the entity needs of the students in higher vocational schools and proposes the necessity and importance of implementing general knowledge education combining with the development of the times, to further improve the education quality of higher vocational and technical education, promote the employment ability of the graduates, reduce employment "chasm" and to further integrate with the market. Meanwhile, nowadays the new annotation of the people on the equal importance of conducting oneself and doing things, the proposal of campus culture and the unanimity of the goals of higher vocational education goal and general education goal especially the practical courses of higher vocation schools provide more feasible foundation for the implement of general knowledge education in higher vocational schools. In the content of implementation, it should take the value of "learning to do" as the core, complemented with selected readings of classic masterpieces of Chinese culture and foreign culture , lay emphasis on education of career planning and how to get on with others, and carry the existing problem of people throughout the education. In the channel of implementation, it can be combined with the whole vocational education, instruction after class or consultation center, with improving employment quality, lifelong education and lifelong learning, and the pursuit value of vocational education.
