This thesis aims to prove why and how multiple intelligence theory integrated with task-based approach could be applied to English teaching in senior high schools. Multiple intelligence theory (M.I. theory) was put forward by Gardner, an American famous psychologist in the 1980s. It is an advanced psychological education theory, while TBA (Task-based approach) is also a powerful educational theory, especially in foreign language teaching and learning. In recent years, it also has drawn much attention of Chinese scholars in English teaching research field in China. However, there is not much research on how to put M.I. theory into English teaching practice in TBA. Thus it is meaningful to study this theory and apply it to the foreign language teaching (FLT), especially when English teaching reform is under way in China. The thesis analyzes the possibility of applying M.I. theory into ELT (English language teaching). The possibility lies in the requirement of curriculum resources, requirement of curriculum instruction, and the requirement of teaching assessment. This thesis introduces some popular Mi-based TBLT models, aiming to help students develop their linguistic intelligence as well as their other intelligence. Suggested solutions related with MI application in TBA have been given in this study to help English teaching. This study shows MI application in TBA can help a lot to develop students' listening, speaking, reading and writing and does a lot for the development of students' seven or eight types of intelligence. MI is a tool or a way for us teachers to use for TBA English teaching, the purpose of teaching and the need of the students' all-around development.
