The spirit of the new curriculum standards is not only to pay attention to the learning of language knowledge, but also pay attention to improving students’ language skills. During the procedure of teaching students, teachers should pay attention to students’ individual differences. Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory mainly includes eight intelligence, which not only emphasizes the individual differences, but also emphasizes the individual ability, and these ideas coincide with the new curriculum standards. There are already many papers about English teaching. Some are about English vocabulary; some are about oral English; some are about English reading; some are about English writing, while this paper specially researches about English grammar teaching. In English teaching, English grammar is important and difficult. Both English teachers and students have encountered with various problems in teaching and learning. Although teachers have studied English grammar teaching, most of them are not quite clear about the application of multiple intelligence theory to the teaching of English grammar. The thesis aims to study the problems of students in English grammar learning, the problems of teachers in English grammar teaching and the advantages of applying multiple intelligence theory to the teaching of English grammar.For this research, two classes in grade seven in Xiao Guan junior middle school took part in the empirical research. The author used qualitative and quantitative research methods for data collection and analysis. The tools used include questionnaire, students’ interview, teachers’ interview, students’ multiple intelligence scale, English grammar test and SPSS data analysis software. In the application of multiple intelligence theory to the teaching practice of English grammar, the author firstly surveyed students’ cognition, interest, learning methods, learning time and learning effect of English grammar. After that, the author surveyed teachers’ understanding of junior middle school English grammar teaching, teaching methods and grammar teaching effect. Besides, the author summed up English grammar teaching and learning problems of teachers and students. At the same time, the author investigated and evaluated students’ multiple intelligence tendency, sorting students’ multiple intelligence tendency, so that the teacher could take effective teaching methods for the purpose of improving the scores of students’ English grammar. The specific implementation steps about applying multiple intelligence to English grammar teaching are as follows:(1) According to students’ multiple intelligence orientation, teachers select suitable teaching methods;(2) According to the teaching method and teaching content, teachers collect relevant teaching materials;(3) Write the teaching plans about using multiple intelligence theory;(4) Use multiple intelligence theory to guide teaching;(5) Interview students after using multiple intelligence theory to teach;(6) Give a grammar test after using multiple intelligence to teach.The results of the data analysis show that the application of multiple intelligence theory to English grammar teaching has the following advantages:(1) Students have more opportunities to participate in the classroom teaching;(2) Students’ interest in English grammar learning is increased;(3) Students master more ways to learn English grammar;(4) Students’ English grammar scores are generally raised.
