The theory of Multiple Intelligence is a theory about human intelligence structure.The theory has produced profound influence in many countries and regions of the world.The theory of Multiple Intelligence provides a platform for realizing students’ all-rounddevelopment, especially for individual education. However, how to guide the teachingwith the Multiple Intelligence Theory, use of students’ intelligent advantages to promoteEnglish teaching, and enable students’ all intelligences to get a balanced developmenthas become a hot topic of current educational problems.This study is based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory, using senior high schoolEnglish teaching as the carrier, employing different methods, including questionnaires,classroom observation, the interview recording, experiments and other research methods.On the basis of the in-depth practice, this study discusses the application of the MultipleIntelligence Theory to senior high school English teaching for art students, includinggrouping based on the characteristics of the students’ intelligence, designing novelteaching type, organizing teaching according to the original cognitive, multipleevaluation etc, and draws the conclusion: applying the Multiple Intelligence Theory tosenior high school English teaching for art students can help teachers cultivate students’multiple intelligences, and improve the students’ abilities and teachers’ English teachinglevel. Meanwhile, the study proposes the request for teachers when applying theMultiple Intelligence Theory to senior high school English teaching, and provides somereference for the general education workers, especially high school English teachers inthe teaching practice of the Multiple Intelligence theory.The thesis is divided into six chapters. The introduction" part mainly discusses thebackground and research significance. The second chapter reviews the research aboutthe Multiple Intelligence Theory at home and abroad as well as the research in thepractice of the Multiple Intelligence Theory in senior high school and primary schools,and points out some problems in unpractical research. The third chapter is thetheoretical basis of this thesis---Multiple Intelligence theory. This part elaborates theconnotation, characteristics and importance of Multiple Intelligence Theory. The fourth chapter is the research methods and design, which is mainly to explain the research goal,process, object, method and the testing tool. The fifth chapter is the research process andmethods, which is the central part of the thesis. Through the questionnaire survey, theauthor of this thesis understands the students’ intelligence characteristics of students,divides groups according to the students’ intelligent features, innovate teaching styleunder the guidance of the theory of multiple intelligence, and makes multipleassessment and so on. The thesis discusses systematically the detail application in everyteaching steps of the Multiple Intelligence Theory to senior high school Englishteaching for art students. The sixth chapter is the findings of the study and enlightments.This chapter includes three parts:the thesis conclusion, the evaluation enlightenmentsabout high school art students English teaching under the guidance of MultipleIntelligence Theory and the enlightments for English teachers’ development especiallyfor teachers of high school art students in English teaching. The conclusion points outthat applying Multiple Intelligence Theory to high school art students’ English teachingcan not only benefit students’ all-round and healthy development, but promote theteachers’ teaching quality.The conclusion summarizes the research, and points out the limitation of the thesis.
