The Huxiang westernization education thought appeared in the period that modern Chinese culture was in conflict with the western culture, thus getting more intense, in the time that westernization movement emerged alternatively. Hunan nationality officials Zeng Guofan, Zuo Zongtang and so on which was deeply influenced by Huxiang culture, together with the renowned Neo-Confucianism at that time as the important representative personage, they provided relief as the own duty how to raise talented person's viewpoint and the view which the new situation needed, is a sort of modern education thought with the thick local culture characteristic. The Huxiang westernization education thought has provided the initial public opinion and the mental preparation for the western learning in China's dissemination, objectively promoted outside gradual disintegration of the Chinese tradition education, played an important impetus function in the officially setting the China education modernization rolling.The thesis has first analyzed the formation background of Huxiang Westernization education thinking. They melted the Huxiang culture essence which was composed of patriotic mood for the people, practical and simple school tradition, enlightened style from all kinds and reform spirit into the westernization education practice, thus formed the Huxiang westernization education thought.And then, Papers analyzed and summed up the major contents of the thinking of the Huxiang Westernization education. Huxiang Westernization educational thinking, based on the introspection and criticism to the traditional cultural and the concern of Western culture on the basis of understanding, strongly advocated the introduction of stuff, "as in the West, the West can also learn"; It also pays close attention to training and appointing Westernization talents to update the content of courses and reform the imperial examination system reform; What's more, it stresses to establish and expand new schools, and it has developed with a modern sense of curriculum with a variety of rules and regulations with following the example of Western's; In addition, it strongly promotes to study abroad, and it has enough evidenced and made a great preparation for Chinese students the implementation of a more fully expanding Demonstration and preparing public opinion theory; At last, it has also offered many original insights on the students, who will study abroad, on the selection, management, and other areas, and so on.The thesis focuses on the characteristics of Westernization educational thinking and its influence. Compared with the traditional education thinking and other Westernization's, Huxiang Westernization education thought also highlight the basic features as following: First, justice is for the body and the core idea is Westernization for use; Second, pragmatic saves society, and self-improvement to avoid insults is the basic purpose; Third, it is skill-based, and its value orientation is with obvious utilitarian. These features not only revealed the outstanding characteristics and shortcomings of modern Huxiang cultural, but also they are the specific performance of the anti-function of Huxiang Westernization of educational thought to the modern Huxiang Culture. The character , the progress of Westernization education is intertwined with the conservation's, determines that there is a dual nature of its impact on the future generations' educational development. On one hand, it brings a lot of positive effects. At the aspects of education policy, education goals, teaching methods, and so on, it has broken the traditional Confucian education thinking of the "ice" and adapted to the development of China's modern education trends. On the other hand, it also has some negative effects, such as, it has shown a severe tendency of utilitarian education and revealed strong conservative mentality, which will be the root cause of the breakup for the education of nearly modern science and humanities education. Huxiang Westernization ideological education should be no doubt in an important position in the history of China's modern educational thinking and researching it has important theoretical and practical significance.
