The Degree of job satisfaction of the professoriat is the attitude towards work in every respect and an evaluation on them, i.e., how much they love their jobs. This thesis takes the professoriat and their job satisfaction as the subject of the research, and, following the train of thought on the combination of theory and practice, conducts an investigation into the degree of job satisfaction of the professoriat in two universities in C city, and makes a comparison between them.Firstly of all, this thesis probes into the main component factors of the professoriat's job satisfaction, which mainly consults the previous research achievement of the professoriat's job satisfaction, and, combines with the author's own work practices in the university, thus forming a scale of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction, including school management, job itself, working environment, interpersonal relationship and job reward. And then, it measures the professoriat of these two universities by application to the scale of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction drawn up by myself. In accordance to the investigation data, it analyses the actual situation of the two universities respectively in terms of five component factors of the scale and comes to a conclusion as follows:1. There are marked differences in the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction between private and public universities. The mean value of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction in the private university is lower than that in the public university.2. In comparison with the mean value of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction in school management, working environment and job reward, the mean value of the degree of job satisfaction of the professoriat in the private university is markedly lower than that in the public university. Among them, the mean value of the degree of job satisfaction of the professoriat in both the private and public universities is lower.3. The regression analysis shows that the factor of job reward makes the greatest linear contribution to the degree of job satisfaction, i.e., To increase the degree of job satisfaction is the key contents of the increase of whole job satisfaction.4. In the analysis of the differences of variable quantity of population statistics, each variable quantity shows the differences at different degree. Secondly, with the reference to the basis of the findings of the research made by the author's predecessors, a scale of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction, including five factors such as school management, job itself, working environment, interpersonal relationship and job reward, has been drawn up. By means of statistics analysis, this thesis analyze the investigation data on multi-levels and at multi-angles, including the analysis and comparison of variable quantity of population statistics and regression analysis of the degree of job satisfaction, etc., thus coming to a series of conclusions which have a certain reference value. This research can use for reference and as a guide for reference to formulating policies for the management of the professoriat, especially, to enhancing the building of the degree of the professoriat's job satisfaction of the private university and promoting the development of the professoriat in the private university and the increase of the level of the school as a whole, it has a certain reference value.
