Study On The Standards Of The Female With Higher Academic Degrees In Choosing Spouse

With the continuous development of society, the dominant value that the family meet its members' requirements of material life (clothing, food, support, and entertainment) is gradually stripping, the hidden value to meet its members' emotional and spiritual needs (love, affection, emotional stability, the spirit of comfort, etc.) increasingly purification. Traditional gender role' relations start to have a potential and progressive variant. From a macro perspective of background, primarily because of the economic, social development and the trend of value' diversification, the change emerges. From the micro-originator perspective, it is feminine self-consciousness, from dim to consciously. Socially marginalized females begin to revisit the vision of inheritance concepts, the social system and the role of family from "social gender", and constantly break the "physiological gender" of the roles. Therefore, regardless of the concept of marriage, marital life, or selection of participating community , they constantly expose differences agreeing on the role of gender , dislocations to role expectations and conflicts to role re realization .The institution of the family firstly needs to conclude a marriage and marriage' premise is choosing spouse. Choosing spouse directly impacts on the future of harmonious family relationship, as well as the level of marriage's quality. At the same time, choosing spouse as a social phenomenon is very vulnerable to the impacts and constraints of external social environment. Under certain historical conditions, standards on choosing spouse could, to a large extent, often reflect the prevailing social, political, economic, and cultural developments, reveal the changing characteristics about the social values.The continuous development of higher education, groups of females with higher academic degrees are also continuing to expand. Education enhances their capacity, but it also affects their daily lives, especially in marriage and love. Female talents and personality in people's day-to-day social life is often valuated by whether they were suitable for marriage. The traditional concept impacts on China's male, male intellectuals are reluctant to find a "strong female" or female with higher academic degrees as wife. From their view, marriage with this kind of female, it will not bring stability, happiness for their families, and may cause them a certain degree of pressure and burden.The current academic research on the issue of choosing spouse mainly uses the following three theories: "Similar matching", "Resource exchanging" and "Gradient of choosing spouse" theory. Similar or consistency and complimentarily are two very important aspects of the theory on choosing spouse. Through the study of literature at home and abroad this point is also confirmed. From the phenomenon on choosing spouse of social changes, some basic factors impacting on choosing spouse is constant, such as the focus of females usually is the socio-economic condition. Because of different times, the specific content of concern will be different.However, the current academic research mainly focused on other extensive groups, less concerned special groups like the females with higher academic degrees and their issues. On the single sample of the study, it mostly focused on college students or the whole youth groups, or it also concerned the marriage' ad study. Most of the researches had a lack of theoretical preparation and research assumptions. On the indicators of study, according to political education of the analytical framework, they made value judgment and class division for the standard choosing spouse. Under the social gender perspective, my research combined theory of choosing spouse, social role' theory to explain the role of female with higher academic degrees on choosing the spouse, and tried to absorb as much as possible the results of research on women's issues from different various disciplines, deepen and refine marriage and family sociology theory. I'd like to hope my study propose some useful thinking and possible solutions on the issue of female with higher academic degrees. That is, we should change the social prejudice against them, provide a reference guide for the marriage policy of the government, enhance their own correct understanding of choosing spouse, and guide them better to pursue their own happiness. The findings show that: (1) With the increase of difficult in choosing spouse, the females with higher academic degrees tend to lower standards of choosing; (2) the females with higher academic degrees usually have a higher requirement for their future husbands in the course of choosing spouse according to the principle of similarity ;(3) male external evaluation is more likely than feminine self-identity to affect the result that the female with higher academic degrees chooses the spouse.Between education or knowledge and female, is there a contradictory? Like any dominated society by the male' value, men dominates and limits women's awareness of language. Traditionally, women should show gentle, charming, weak and volatile, vulnerable emotional, frivolous, nervous, frequently garrulous, and dependent characteristics. Beautiful faces, weak and submissive personality, are still important standards to judge female. Under the influence of this gender norms, the females with higher academic degrees have also inevitably accepted the number of restrictions and requirements for these roles, fear for success in their business, worry that the pursuit of education will lead to the loss of feminine characteristics .They consciously accept the male perspective as their point of view. The cultural pattern that gives the division of gender roles in a community for most of social members impacts on them.Marriage is sacred, and also is the reality. Although the level of education of female is the top of promoting gender equality, under social culture, at the level of patriarchal ideology, the influence on the traditional concept of family and marriage still should not be underestimated. In the era of the imperial examination, poor children could enter into higher society through education to change class status. With the publicity of equality between sexes, today education becomes one of the most effective means that females change their social status. The status and right of female must obtain recognition of male society and academic qualifications doesn't become a bargaining chip for "doing well", and it is worthy of our serious consideration.The standards choosing spouse has certain features of the times. It is a temporary phenomenon that females with higher academic degrees are difficult to choose the spouse, and not become a norm. This not only needs a correct social understanding of female with academic degrees and correct people's prejudices, but also adjusts the time and their own standards to choose the spouse, conform to the trend of times.
