The epicycle (2003-2007) ordinary college undergraduate course teaching profession level appraisal will soon completely end in the first half of the year in 2008. The present appraisal indicator system will also complete its historical mission. In the practice of the undergraduate course teaching profession level appraisal to the nearly 600 universities, we have already seen the huge role of promoting the development of undergraduate course teaching profession level, but also discovered some questions caused by its indicator system not able completely designed in accordance with the characteristics of higher education which are in popularity stage. With the next 5 year round undergraduate course teaching profession level appraisal starting, it is imminent to further revise and consummate present appraisal indicator system.The Ministry of Education's appraisal of the ordinary Colleges is university's teaching profession level appraisal, but is not only the appraisal of teaching level or teaching quality. Consummating the appraisal indicator system should adjust gradually from present primarily taking achievement appraisal and condition appraisal to taking primarily process appraisal, the achievement appraisal and the condition appraisal auxiliarily. The next round appraisal should mainly aim at the key aspects which affect the personnel training quality such as school guiding ideology, teachers troop construction, specialized construction, curriculum construction and practice teaching. The key of consummating the appraisal indicator system doesn't lie in whether establishing different appraisal indicator systems to different types of colleges. It is completely possible to serve the purpose of commenting pressing to constructing under the identical set of indicator system's frame through inspecting three quantification target's conformity's degree, implementing the classified instruction to various colleges' condition requirements and fully respecting the university's independent right in the area of school teaching operational mechanism such as guiding ideology, teaching construction and reform.Consummating the appraisal indicator system must obey to such four principles as appraisal project keeping up to educational goal, having the good explorative, comparison with the appraisal object's reality and being quite simple feasible in order to realize transiting from primarily appraising achievement and condition to primarily appraising process , grasp firmly the indicator system's core target and its connotation, f play the appraisal indicator system's guidance role fully, urge colleges to improve the teaching, guarantee that the undergraduate course personnel training quality and realize higher education's sustainable development.
