The dissertation is a case investigation and causes analysis about the negative influences of the internet on senior middle school students. Since the 1990s, the popularity of the internet has profoundly influenced and infiltrated many aspects of human life. Even though it brings many kinds of conveniences, some negative influences are gradually emerging. The senior middle school students are some of the main members of using internet, for their own unique physical characteristics, learning stage, and grew up along with the development of the internet, which form indissoluble predestined relationship between the senior middle school students and the internet. At the same time, many negative examples are arising, such as online games indulge them in internet to make them neglect their learning, online chat and deception, and sudden death due to packet internet cafes and places, and so on. The negative influences from the internet should not to be ignored.During the research, the main method is the case investigation, an ordinary senior middle school student was found and was regarded as the main case .Through interviewing his parents, teachers, classmates and friends, many true materials about his life were found. By use and gratification theory and Maslow's need theory for entrance, the author mainly think about his motivations, behaviors of using internet. After analysis, the negative influences of the internet are physical and mental health, learning, life style, moral development, and so on. The causes mainly are made up of the subject and object factors: a subjective aspects reflected in the physical and psychological characteristics, such as the contradictions and psychological needs, the main objective factors is the environment of growth , poor parent-child communication, the means of education in school, the curriculum and management. The author thinks about three countermeasures about reducing the negative influences, such as family rearing styles and parent-child communication, the school education and guidance, the internet environment's purification.The structure and content of this research are as follows: Part I: Introduction: the major issues, including research on the causes, of the purposes, of the idea of the method, the literature review.Part II: The case and interviews with people around the observation of and participation in the exchange: exchange views with his teachers, parents, friends, classmates, and so on.Part III: What is the case's motivation of using internet?Part IV: What are negative influences that the case subjected to from the internet? Negative influences from the internet are found by his real life events and what he thought.Part V: The causes analysis of the negative influences. The author tries her best to find answers from the facts of his life and education.Part VI: Discussion and reflection: how to deal with the negative influences of the internet?Thinking about how to educate and guide the senior middle school students to use internet properly.
