The general goal of the new curriculum standard is based on the people's demands for life and harmonious development. It presents the combination of humanity and instrumentality of language. But traditional Chinese writing teaching methods pay too much attention to the instrumentality of language instead of practice in people's daily life. In this thesis, the author makes efforts to analyze the defects of traditional Chinese teaching and to present the new connotation and features of life education in Chinese teaching.This thesis consists of four parts.The first part introduces the connotation and significance of life education in Chinese teaching, followed by a concise summary of the theory of life education, from the point view of the new curriculum standard and practice of Chinese teaching in high schools.The second part demonstrates that life education is the basic feature for Chinese teaching reform. Language teaching originates from practice in daily life and aims ultimately at returning to life.The third part analyzes the theory of life education in Chinese teaching. On the basis of the comprehensive study of life education theory, the author presents the connotation of life Chinese teaching and illustrates the four features of life education, namely, practicality, openness, scenario, subjectivity.The fourth part is the focus of the thesis. The author proposes new plans for applying life education theory to Chinese teaching on the basis of teaching practice, such as, to put life education into effect in different ways in classroom instruction and to link writing training with daily life. As a whole, the life education theory in Chinese teaching during the new curriculum reform perfectly combines humanity and instrumentality of language and focuses on the demand of individual students. Its theoretical and practical value is presented not only in its help for teaching level but also in improvement of students' writing ability .The implement of life education in Chinese teaching provides effective methods for Chinese teaching reform.
