A new round of the discipline reform of basic education was initiated in China in 2001. Jining District of Ulanqab City of Inner Mongolia became the second batch of experimental area of national discipline reform in 2002. The reform of new discipline had been undertaken comprehensively in Ulanqab City in 2004. The entrance examination of senior middle schools has become the wind vane and driving engine of the reform of new discipline. It is significant to make a research on setting questions for entrance examination of senior middle schools in Chinese discipline and its examination paper to instruct local reform of new discipline of Chinese, improve the level of setting questions for entrance examination of senior middle schools in local area and serve the Chinese teaching.The author first made an investigation on the development of the reform of setting questions for entrance examination of senior middle schools of Chinese discipline in the new period, made an analysis of the characteristics of examination paper of national entrance examination of senior middle schools and developing trend of its setting questions under the background of new discipline and then made a study of the status quo of setting questions independently and examination paper of Ulanqab City from 2001 to 2006. The author summarized the merits and shortcomings of setting questions and examination paper of entrance examination of senior middle schools of Chinese discipline in Ulanqab City from 2001 to 2006. Based on this, the paper put forwards concrete suggestions on setting questions for entrance examination of senior middle schools and Chinese teaching in junior middle schools in Ulanqab City in future.The merits of setting questions and examination paper of entrance examination of senior middle schools of Ulanqab City can be summarized as following three aspects: mastering the textbooks in accordance with the syllabus, seeking changes under the prerequisite of stability and having originality in changing. The eight shortcomings are shown as follows: the omission of humanistic care, examining of writing Chinese characters, examining oral communication, examining comprehensive study, the storage of local characteristics, originality, breakthroughs, exploration and imitating the original examination paper of other districts.The author suggests that future setting questions in Chinese discipline for entrance examination of senior middle schools in Ulanqab City deal with the relations of inheriting and developing well, grasp the spirit of discipline standard in setting questions, hold the characteristics of setting questions in Chinese discipline for entrance examination of senior middle schools and use the tool of setting questions well.The paper points out the problems existed in Chinese teaching and study in Ulanqab City and proposes measures adopted in daily Chinese study and teaching.
