The Research About The Relationship Between Adult Attachment And Marital Quality

This study used Relationship Questionnaires (RQ), Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory (ECR) and the subscale of OLSON marriage and the quality of marital satisfaction questionnaires to measure the attachment types and the attachment dimensions of those married, to define the quality of their marriage. Through all these work, we want to find the relationship between adult attachment and marital quality, to help people improve the quality of marriage.The results showed that:First, there is no difference between different gender and marriage age when talking about the types of adult attachment. The RQ, ECR test show that the types of attachment won't affected by sex and marriage ages in general. Such conclusions supported our assumptions.Second, the marital quality has gender differences, and also related with how long the couple been married. This study shows that 80.5% are satisfied with their marriage. From the view of "gender", the satisfaction of women is slightly lower than that men and the t-test results indicated that there was a distinctive difference in satisfaction (P <0.01). From the view of "marriage age", the satisfaction of those marriage age beyond 7 years, is higher than those marriage age in one year, t-test results indicated that the satisfaction is distinctive difference.(P <0.01).Third, there is really a correlation between adult attachment and marital quality. There is distinctive difference (P <0.05) between the types of adult attachment and the satisfaction of marriage.
