In order to implement Basic Education Reform Program which was formulated by Ministry of Education and deepen the high school of math curriculum reform, Textbook of High School Curriculum Standards for Mathematics (Version B) published by People's Education Press (PEP) was started to be used in Liaoning Province ,at September ,2006.Plane Analytic Geometry (PAG) is a traditional content in mathematics curriculum. Its main content is to further strengthen the understanding of Plane Cartesian coordinate system. Coordinates System is a bridge which connects algebra and geometry. Through the learning of Plane Analytic Geometry, not only students'understanding of mathematical way of thinking can be improved, but also the educational value in philosophy and culture can be embodied.With Literature Method, Questionnaire Survey Method and Interview Method, this research analyzes the present situation of Plane Analytic Geometry (PAG) teaching and learning comprehensively.Firstly, from the perspective of text, this research summarizes the characteristics of compilation of teaching materials.Secondly, by using of Questionnaire Survey Method and Interview Method, we ask teachers and students from different high schools in Yingkou city some questions which are acquainted with the following aspects of the questions:1. Teachers'views toward the compilation of teaching materials.2. Capacity of the content and period of teaching materials.3. What's the overall situation of teaching and learning in Plane Analytic Geometry?4. What's the situation of concept teaching of Plane Analytic Geometry?With the Survey, we get some conclusion that:Firstly, the textbook of PAG (V.B) embodies the method of coordinates and emphasizes the mind of algebra and geometry combined. It fits in with the process of students'mentality and cognition. It also permeates the mind of algorithm.Secondly, the capacity of textbook is suitable relatively. But teachers think it not enough in class hours.Thirdly, it needs reinforcing in teaching demands for teachers.Fourthly, students'burden is too heavy, so students can't understand the knowledge of PAG in time.Fifthly, teachers need adjusting their teaching ways and methods to enhance the conception of teaching in PAG.Finally, abase on the survey and analysis, this research gives some suggestions about the compilation of teaching materials and teachers'teaching.
