Along with the development of economic globalization, the world has stepped into the era of knowledge economy, and the growth of economy relies directly on the production, spread and use of knowledge. The society puts higher demands on talents, and college students are the key factor of the advancement of the society, the higher education of China, as a result, is facing great challenges. Furthermore, with the appearance of subjectivity in education theory and practice fields, the spirit of practice and innovation is highlighted in the cultivation of college students, which emphasizes the students should be the masters of themselves in the process of learning and get knowledge positively and actively. As the goal of cultivation has been changed, people have to alter the idea of learning. Traditional accepting learning mode focuses too much on the tranferring of knowledge but ignores the cultivation of ability, and its influence is even found in campus, which is harmful to the cultivation of the practical ability and innovative ability. But project learning, the new learning mode, can make up the deficiency due to its own features, and it has already been treated as the main way of learning of contemporary college students.College students, which are different from middle school and primary school students, should not receive knowledge passively any longer, but should absorb konwledge with motility and get developed. The development of subjectivity of students is not only the starting point but also the ending point of project learning, and conducting project learning is to provide students more opportunities to exercise, to elevate the ability of self-determination and innovation, and finally enables the students be the master of themselves in learning. And with the elevation of ability, students get proficiency in project learning. In this sense, project learning and the development of subjectivity of students complement each other.Viewing from the current situation, there are many probelms in the application of project learning in China. The conduction of project learning didn't stimulate the activeness of students very well, and this treatise aims at analysing these problems in connection with current situation and make relative proposals. This treatise is illustrated by three parts: The first part mainly introduces the conception and meaning of conducting project learning. The spread of project learning is due to not only the need of society's and education's developing, but also the need of subjectivity education's developing.The second part concludes the current situation of project learning in contemporary colleges and the defects of subjectivity of college students and analyses the reasons, all based on the understanding of the current situation of project learning in contemporary colleges and the statistical results of questionnaire survey.The third part is the main part which makes proposals according to the problems revealed, i.e. how to improve project learning to better stimulate the students' activeness and to make the subjectivity of students get fully developed in the process of project learning.
