High School Mathematics Teaching Standards indicates that mathematics studing in high schools should not be limited to receiving, memorizing, imitating, and doing exercises. Instead, students should be encouraged to explore for themselves, to take initiative in their study, and to learn to how to cooperate with each other. So high school mathematics teaching should help students to experience the process of discovery and creation in mathematics, and help to develop the students' originality. A new teaching method to meet this need is Case-analysis Method. In recent years, a lot of work has been done concerning case-analysis teaching method. However, not much of this is directed to mathematics teaching in secondary vocational schools. Therefore, it is important to practice case-analysis teaching method in mathematics teaching in secondary vocational schools. In this way teachers can get a deeper understanding of teaching theory, improve their ability in finding and solving problems, and raise their teaching quality, increase their research capacity. In this thesis, we have done a study on case-analysis of mathematics teaching in secondary vocational schools. In chapter 1, we discuss about the origin of case-analysis teaching and give analysis of the status quo in China. In chapter 2, we discuss its theoretic foundation and define some relevant notions. Based on teaching practice, we give two basic types of case-analysis teaching. In chapter 3, we introduce the purpose, object, methodology, and process of our research. In chapter 4, which is the major part of our study, we select with great care 5 teaching cases. For each case, we present in detail its origin, classroom teaching practice, our own reflection on it and the teaching effect. Two of these cases have found their way into papers published in related journals in 2007. Chapter 5 is a summary of the achievements made in case-analysis teaching method. Meanwhile, we also indicate some of the shortcomings of studies on case-analysis teaching.
