The Study Of The Relationships Between The Fundamental Research Ability And The Scientific Knowledge Production Ability Of The Provincial Higher Medical Colleges

Objective: This study aims at providing the essential references for the strategic decision of the provincial higher medical colleges and the national higher medical education, through the study of the relations among the fundamental research ability, the scientific knowledge production ability and the intellectual-cultivation ability in the provincial higher medical colleges, and also the analysis of the economic situation relation of their respective provinces(municipalities, districts) during the10th Five-Year Plan period.Object: The fundamental research ability, the scientific knowledge production ability, the intellectual-cultivation ability, and the economic situation relation of their respective provinces(municipalities, districts) in eight provincial higher medical colleges of the eastern, mid, and western areas in 2001～2006.Methodology: The literature review, the comparative study, questionnaires, professor discussions, discussion groups, the Spearman correlative analysis, the corresponding analysis and the qualitative and quantitative approaches.Result:1.The fundamental research ability of the provincial higher medical colleges is trending upward generally, the degree of which in the eastern area is obviously much higher than in the mid and western areas, and that in the western area is much higher than in the mid area.2.The knowledge production ability of the provincial medical colleges is generally low, which in the eastern area is obviously much more powerful than in the mid and western areas.3.The intellectual-cultivation ability of the provincial higher medical colleges in China is strong, which in the eastern area are better than in the middle and western area, and the western better than the middle area.4.The fundamental research ability of the provincial higher medical colleges is in direct proportion to the intellectual-cultivation ability, and the rate is 79%.5.There are not high degree correlation between the fundamental research ability and the knowledge production, the knowledge production and the intellectual-cultivation ability of the provincial higher medical colleges.6.The provincial financial investment to higher medical colleges is in direct proportion to the knowledge production ability, and the rate is 78.6%. 7.The outstanding middle-aged and young professors and the backbones in the provincial higher medical colleges are rare and lacking. The level of teaching teams is high but not reaching the summit yet.Conclusion:1.The fundamental research ability of provincial higher medical colleges is in direct proportion to the intellectual-cultivation ability.2.The regional economic situation has the certain relations with the fundamental research ability of higher medical colleges, the knowledge production ability and the intellectual-cultivation ability, and the provincial financial investment to higher medical colleges is in direct proportion to the knowledge production ability.3.The high-level scientific research of provincial higher medical colleges can promote the improvement of teaching quality.Suggestion:1.The financial investment to provincial higher medical colleges in the mid and western areas should be enlarged, in order to promote the improvement of fundamental research ability.2.A batch of outstanding middle-aged and young professors and the backbones should be cultivated as soon as possible in the mid and western areasOriginality:1. It's for the first time to study the relations among the fundamental research ability, the knowledge production ability and the intellectual-cultivation ability in the provincial higher medical colleges.2. On the basis of both qualitative and quantitative investigation, we firstly propose that the provincial higher medical colleges'first job is the intellectual-cultivation , not the fundamental research and the knowledge-production.3. It's first time to acquire that the fundamental research ability and the knowledge-intelectual-cultivation ability of the provincial higher medical colledes in the estern area are the greatest, and which of that in the western area greater, which of in the mid area low.Conception for Further Study:1. To gather the relative materials for each study object much further, and broaden the influence of the study conclusion.2. To reduce the deviation within the samples by making all higher medical colleges (in the eastern, mid, western areas)as the study objects.
