Research On Medical Ethics Education For Students In Private Medical Institutions Of Higher Learning

The medical worker’s duty is to heal the wounded，rescue the dying, cure theillness and save people’s lives. Students in medical colleges and universities are thefuture medical workers and their medical ethics education has attracted more andmore attention. Private medical colleges and universities is an important componentof higher medical education in China, so the medical talents they cultivate for thesociety is also charged with the sacred mission of " health association and lifecommitment".This research, through interviews and questionnaire investigation with teachersand students in a private university in Hunan Province, a private university inShandong and their affiliated hospitals, as well as the analysis and study of the relatedliteratures, has found that the medical ethics education in private medical colleges anduniversities has, in general, made some achievements, but there are still someproblems such as: unclear education idea, old education contents, backward educationmeans, single education platform, lagged teacher team construction and incompleteevaluation system.In view of this situation, private medical colleges and universities must adapt tothe development of the times, take the initiative to change the conception of medicalethics education, straighten out the medical ethics education idea, establish theconcept of medical ethics education science and construct the scientific medical ethicseducation system; in addition, they must improve the content of medical ethicseducation science, strengthen the traditional Chinese medical ethics education,broaden the teaching content of medical ethics, value the importance of medical ethicsspecification education and medical laws and regulations education, strengtheninterpersonal communication and medical etiquette training, strengthen the cultivationof socialist core values, and actively carry out school history education to cultivatethe students’ sense of honor and sense of responsibility; besides, they mustcontinuously improve and innovate the medical education means by adopting the richand varied teaching means and methods; they must build rich medical ethics educationplatform and make effective use of the interactive network platform, the libraryservice platform for educating people, the autonomous learning platform of thestudents’ associations and the social practice platform; they must enhance the construction of teachers, strengthen the theoretical moral education team construction,strengthen the construction of the professional teaching team and the clinical teachingteam, strengthen construction of counselors’ consciousness of medical ethics andimprove the medical ethics education level of the Party’s management team; theymust establish and perfect the medical ethics education evaluation system bycombining the summative assessment and formative evaluation, self-evaluation andexternal evaluation as well as the theory proficiency evaluation and the operationevaluation Only in this way can the education of medical ethics in private medicalinstitutions of higher learning is satisfactory.
