The first half of the 19th Century is an era that American society changes foundermentally. Under the influence of social forces such as industrilization,Urbanization, American takes its wings. The development in this period is commprehensive, involving politics,economics,education and so on. In the field of education, the forerunners in public edcation following the space of time lead the common school movement.As American people are becoming more and more interested in this cause, this movement spreads in most parts of the U.S.. Common school movement brings new vitality and development to the American public education, both at educational thought level and practice level. With new common schools built and public edcational administrative system established, this movement are gonging deepen and developing. Meanwhile, public educational thoughts are got renovation through the practice of common school movement.
