The new curriculum reform propose the idea of student-based development, however this idea can bring into true only when we take great care of development of teacher. The development of student relies on that of teacher. Teacher is not only the executor of education mission, but also the researcher and innovator. Therefore, teacher professional development will decide the new curriculum reform.In this paper, I take a middle-school history teacher as typical example, narrate his professional development process in the method of history records. Through these vivid stories in his professional development process during different period, his thought and practice .I hope it can bring beneficial experience to more teachers.There are four parts in this paper.The first part is the introduction. I summarize the current study of teacher professional development at home and abroad. At the same time, I express the reason of the selection of the object and the method of study.The major part of the thesis is the second part. I dissertate his thought and practice during different period of professional development process through several vivid stories. From he was born in a bad time to he became a middle history teacher, from he was regarded as supreme teacher in xinjiang to he restarted his undertaking in shanghai, from he confronted so many obstacles to he began to reading and thinking alone and at last he started to cultivate young teachers. He overcame all difficulty and thought hardly and unremitting, and practice with great effort, ultimately he realize the professional development.The third part is the enlightenment of the study. During the process of his professional development, he make great effort in thinking the primary question of what is history teaching, the purpose of history teaching, the method of history teaching. And these question is the critical for the professional development of every history teacher.The last part is the end of the study. Through the opinions of his colleges and students, the result is proved and strengthened. At the same time, I found the shortage of my study. The professional development of teacher is the result of the influence of exterior and interior force, and the critical incentive is the interior one. And the mastery of the interior world need long following.Through the case study, I deeply feel that the professional development of teacher, first of all, is the development of fresh and lively person. Class training can't bring in true development. The flowers in the greenhouse can't endure the winds and frost. Only in bad environment can teachers make out a success way of professional development through unremitting thought and practice. The study of teacher professional development should pay more attention to the interior world of teacher. Through long time tracking can we discern the course of their interior world.
