Over the past few years, more and more disabled people have been endowed with the right of receiving higher education, but disabled college students by no means enjoy a high employment rate. Even though they get employed, most of their occupations are not in accordance with what they have learnt, which leads to the conflict between the development of the higher education for the handicapped and the unfavorable job situation. The employment of disabled college students is affected by many factors, which are concerned with the individual, family, university, employing unit, government and so on. Based on the three elements having direct impacts on the employment of college students with disabilities, that is, the individual of college students with disabilities, universities and employing unit, this study takes a survey on how the three factors affect the employment of disabled college students, analyses more profound factors which can impinge upon college students with disabilities and ponders on how to make full use of the favorable influences of the three factors, so as to form joint forces to improve the employment of disabled college students.This study applies quality research method, which is to select 39 disabled college students of Shanghai, 3 universities and 11 employing units and acquire the first-hand material through face-to-face interview. It can be easily seen from the recent survey that the employing units are putting the deepest influence on employment of the disabled students, which is mainly reflected in their attitude towards the handicapped college students. In addition, the writer finds that the influences of the three factors are also reflected by other aspects: the conflict between the talent need of employing units and the real situation of the disabled graduates, the conflict between the increasingly widened profession of universities and the unchanged limited employment, the situation that the teaching pattern of universities as well their service on vocational guidance can not meet the needs of disabled college students, and the reality that part of the disabled college students are hindered from hunting jobs due to their lack of necessary skills and good psychology in employment.To improve the current unpromising employment situation of disabled college students, the writer offers suggestions to the employing units, universities and disabled college students respectively. The employing units should get rid of prejudice towards those disabled students and be active to accept them, and what's more offer them training according to the different requests of the technical post and basic service post; universities should, by combining the characteristics of the disabled college students' study and physiology as well as the market demand, set up a sound profession system, carry out the cultivating model which combines the way of learning in class and of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, and supply them with special career guidance; the disabled college students themselves should overcome the unhealthy job-hunting psychology, apply for jobs actively, make a long-term occupational development plan and master reliable skills.
