With the raising level of economic and social development as well as the in-depth reform of higher education, college students with disabilities enjoy more and more employment opportunities, but also face more severe pressures and challenges. Psychological problems arising from such a situation have become increasingly prominent, calling for a targeted employment psychological guidance based on research.With the implementation of self-made questionnaire, this study investigates124disabled students and115non-disabled students from37institutions of higher education in Shanghai and conducts depth interviews for9disabled students, in order to comprehend the current situation of employment psychology of the college students with disabilities and analyze the related factors influencing their employment psychology.Findings of this study are as follows:(1)The whole level of employment psychology of the college students with disabilities is not high, and the polarization is very obvious.(2)College students with disabilities have a good knowledge about the employment situation and policies, but their self-awareness and occupational cognition is significantly lower than non-disabled college students.(3)Employment related moods of the college students with disabilities is more negative, and the first intense pressure is from our society’s unacceptable attitude.(4)The preparation of the college students with disabilities for occupation is generally inadequate, especially for the career intentions and planning.(5)With the distinct personality tendency, college students with disabilities pay more attention to the environmental and mental variables.(6)The employment psychology of college students with disabilities is significantly related to such factors as gender, grade, type of disabilities, family cohesion, social support and support availability, etc.According to the results of the study, the author has proposed four basic measures to improve the employment psychology of college students with disabilities.(1)Improve employment promotion policies for disabled college students, so as to enhance our social to accept them.(2)Strengthen the career guidance for college students with disabilities, as well as supporting appropriate instructional strategies.(3)Enhance emotional communication between disabled college students and their parents.(4) Promote disabled students’initiative and make full use of social supports.
