Study Of The Alteration Of Key Discipline In H University

This paper mainly focuses on how a non-key university advances its disciplines through alteration of its key discipline. This development is changing. It reflects the alteration of various inconsistencies in the construction of discipline. This study emphasizes particularly on making a brief analysis of the precondition and the process of key discipline alteration of H University.This paper adopts a qualitative method and selects H University as a case. Through observation, interviews and textual study, raw data is collected. In the period of 1996 to 1999, social environment has a great influence on H University and we can call it Incubation Period. In the period of 2000 to 2007, services, professional layout, research, faculty, discipline integration, organizational culture, reflection and measures had taken place in H University. In the first four years of this phase, concentrating energy on building the marine disciplines is the main strategy used by H University, but the effect is limited; the later four years of this phase is a developmental period of key alteration of discipline development in H University. In this phase, H University uses a breakthrough strategy and overall development strategy alternately into disciplines construction.The key-disciplines development of H University is a long-term and tortuous process. There are lots of successful experiences and abortive lessons in this process. Overall, the key-disciplines alteration must pay attention to the relationship between the external environment and internal basis of discipline as well as the relationship between the subjects in university. This is a continuous improvement and constantly changed process. It must contains not only stable system, but also flexible policy. At this rate, leading talents in the process could play a core role.
