Education is a top priority in the process of developing a country, it is not only a powerful force which supports the sustainable economic and social development, but also is the basic demand for citizen's development. In the system of people-oriented scientific outlook on development, the value of education embodies that it should satisfy every citizen's demand which is free and overall personal development. Only if education is led in the name of educational equality, it can obtain its harmonious and balanced development. Moreover, it can propel to accomplish the social goal of equality and justice.There is no doubt that education plays comprehensive, guiding and fundamental roles in the process of building harmonious socialist society, and educational harmony becomes one of the important contents of social harmony. However, from the current situation we can see there are various factors which influenced the educational harmony. The main factors lie in these facts that right of educational equality isn't fulfilled sufficiently, and furthermore, there is a great gap between educational deeds and demands for free and comprehensive development. Thus, the interpretation of theory and practice of educational equality in the process of social development is closely related to the important task of accomplishment of harmonious socialist society and people-oriented scientific outlook on development, which inevitably impels us to face the education, look closely at education, and develop education from the more scientific and humanizing angle.The paper will discuss the problem of educational equality in the process of building harmonious society from three aspects. First, it will elucidate the necessity of propelling educational equality in the process of harmonious socialist society. Through the comparative interpretation between equality and justice, basic concept of educational equality and also its relativity will be generalized. In the process of it, the paper treats free and comprehensive development of person as the main line, threading through the whole explanation of inseparability of a harmonious society from educational equality, which in themselves are the two themes. Next, the paper will analyze the present condition of educational inequality as well as the possible negative consequence from multi-perspectives. Based on the analysis of possible problems, the subjective and objective reasons will be analyzed. And the reasons mainly include relatively backward social productive force and deviation from idea and system of education. Meanwhile, the understanding of present condition of educational inequality is rectified through the combination of characteristics of era in a period of primary stage of socialism. Furthermore, on the basis of relevant theories and practices, the paper will put forward its guile line logistically, that is, in order to realize educational equality, we should insist on people-oriented and common development, advocate the principle of government determining, and lay emphasis on educational public good in the society. In the end, feasible advices and suggestions on the troublesome current educational problems will be put forward and new ideas about various measures of educational equality will be proposed in the different stage of development of education.
