Values clarification theory emerged in the 1960s in the United States. This theory brings forward the practical, effective education methods of the values education. At present, our country is being in the crucial time of reformation, opening trade, and the society transforming, plural-values coexist gradually become a universal phenomenon. Values education in Chinese universities is also facing the new situation and the challenge. Therefore, using the Values clarification theory as reference, explores the new thoughts of the reformation of values education in Chinese universities, having the vital significance in strengthening the actual effect of the values education in Chinese universities.First, the thesis points out the existing challenges and difficulties and then introduces the theory of values clarification. Next, besides introducing the dominant viewpoint of the values clarification theory, the essay analyses its uniqueness and imperfection. Further more, the essay mainly focus on the existing problems of values education in Chinese universities. Finally, it studies its enlightenment on the reformation of values education in universities. Totally, five enlightenments are emphasized in this paper, namely, the values education in universities should cultivate the students'value select ability, respect the dominant position of the students, pay more attention to student's life world, freely utilize the multifarious methods, and expand the teacher's role.The main content of the thesis is how to face the problems aroused in values education for the college students, explore the mode and method of values clarification, and enhance the effectiveness of the values education. The values education for the college students is an important research subject in theory and practice. From a theory sense, it may deepen the theory research of the values education so as to enrich the theory research of the ideological education. From a practical sense, it is also helpful to enrich the contents of the values education of college students, to innovate the methods of the values education so as to improve the effectiveness of values education for college students.
