An Exploration Of Students' Associations' Political Participation In Present Higher Education Institutions College As An Example To Xuzhou

With the deepening and development of the reform and opening-up, students' associations and their political participation have become an important remarkable social political phenomenon at present. This thesis will, based on the social political reality, from the point of view of developing social democracy, and with the guidance of the basic theories of Marxism politics, analyze students' associations from the relation between the nation and the society, consider their political participation from the vision of political development and take them as the basic theory premises of analyzing the political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions. This thesis will also make a comparatively systematic study on the theory and reality of the political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions through investigating their ability and achievements,the eco-environment and the development and improvement of political participation.Firstly, the thesis studies the factors affecting the political participation of students' associations through referring their development status. Recent years, the development of Chinese students' associations has entered into a new historical era, not only with the great increasing of number, species and independence, but also with a certain ability of participating in politics. The ability of students' associations' political participation is closely related to their development status, the participating ability, the social resources they possess such as fund, social relations, human resources, validity and the means and ability to acquire them.Secondly, the thesis makes a theoretical analysis as to the political participation of present Chinese students' associations. As a civil organization and the significant component of social power, students' associations play a unique role in increasing social autonomy and restricting national authority. However, students' associations cannot bring their function into full play until they participate in politics.Thirdly, the thesis elaborates on eco-environment's impact on political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions from the following four respects: viewing the political environment, China's political system reform has created a looser environment for associates' political participation since the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee. Analyzing the economic and social environment, the market-oriented reform of economic system provides a proper system, a resource basis, a bright prospect and more expansive activity space for the coming-up and development of students' associations. Seeing the law environment, Regulations on Registration and Administration of Social Organizations stipulates the management system, procedure and conditions of social organizations' establishment and competent organizations, and provides an important law basis. Judging the political and cultural environment, as the essential requirement of democracy, political participation cannot come true unless it has a suitable cultural background and a forceful cultural support. The change of realistic political environment triggers the change of citizens' political views and emotions, and lays a political and cultural basis for the forming and political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions to some extent.Fourthly, this thesis deeply investigates and analyzes the achievements of students' associations' political participation in present higher education institutions and also the still existing problems.Theoretically speaking, students' association' political participation plays a positive role in constructing socialist political civilization in the following aspects: strengthen the construction of socialist political civilization; accelerate the construction of socialist political civilization; relieve and dispel the participation crisis, and steadily promote the construction of socialist political civilization; push the construction of socialist participating political culture. After considering 58 investigation indexes including the attitude, cognition, behavior, approach,purpose and achievement and analyzing of students' associations' political participation in higher education institutions of Xuzhou, through analysis of variance and factor, it is concluded that students' associations have not gained a remarkable achievement in political participation.Fifthly, therefore, this thesis also pointedly puts forward some suggestions and measures to develop and improve the political participation of students' associations. On one hand, improve the eco-environment of developing students' associations through perfecting related legislation, simplifying procedures of associations' registration and administration, encouraging associations' developing in the folk and solving the problems associations'talents and funds. On the other hand, perfect students' associations'supervision mechanisms consisting of government supervision mechanism,social supervision mechanism and association self-discipline mechanism, and promote the healthy development of students' associations. At present there are no many systematic researches on the political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions.This thesis attempts to systematically study the political participation of students' associations in present higher education institutions, which is a new perspective of socialist democratic policy, and has certain theory innovation and consultation significance in practice.
