Starting in the spirit of the New Course Reform, the paper made a research on the School-based English Textbooks using in Changchun No.2 High School according to some relating research results of education theory, linguistics theory, theory of language learning, language teaching theories and theories of evaluating textbooks, using methods of literature survey, questionnaires, interviews compositively. The research thought that the School-based English Textbooks have well reflected the function of English teaching theory, embodied some principles of compiling textbooks and part of evaluation standdards theory. It proved that the authors took into account the latest lingguistics, language learning and languange teaching and research results in the theory while writing. The preparation of the textbooks was with certain scientific.Based on this, the writer of the paper found some problems existing needed to be solved in teaching through analysing datas getting from questionnaires, interviews and survey. The problems are that the School-based English Textbooks can't be matched with the state textbooks, that it didn't offer enough knowledge on science and literature, that it didn't have a system of grammar, that it didn't pay enough attention to principles of compiling textbooks and so on. The paper made a dicussion about these problems and put forward some practical suggestions on developing school-based English textbooks: to make the school-based text books dynamic course materials during paying complete attention to principles of compiling textbooks on the basis of reasonable and suitable complementarity to state English textbooks.
