The constitution of the elective lessons is one of the brightest points of the new senior school curriculum reform. has made some suggestions in the 'Curriculum design ideas', 'Curriculum objectives' and 'the suggestion of implementation ' .Especially the standards proposed five aspects of the elective lessons, including poems and essays, novels and operas ,news report and biography, the application of the language, cultural works study. All of these put the Chinese elective lessons to a deeper and higher stage. The edition and implement of the Chinese elective textbooks also became a focus of this reform.This paper studies the theme through the methods of literature study, research study, and analysis study. In this article, the history of the construction of the Chinese elective lessons and the elective textbooks of senior middle school in China was reviewed from which we can get the actuality.The Chinese elective textbooks can be separated into tow kinds: the national elective textbooks and the school-based textbooks. Up to now, elective textbooks published by five publishing companies have been censored and put into use. These textbooks present some new characteristics, such as the innovation of the editing idea; the diversity of the developing kinds; the flexibility of the editing style; the idea of the new times when choose the content; paying more attention to the students etc. But during the process of editing and using, there are also some problems showing up, like lacking of high quilted textbooks; lacking of Chinese teachers among the editors; more humanism when choosing the content; the replacement of the student-based by examination-based during the process of using; the distemperedness of the judging mechanism etc. There are also some problems when the school-based textbooks are edited and used, such as misunderstanding the "school-based" into the school features, aiming at the examination or the competition, embodying the teachers' purposes instead of the students etc. Apart from these problems, the school-based elective lessons also face many residences like the policy, the quality of the teachers, the cost of edition, the judging mechanism and so on.Aiming at the problems mentioned above, the paper presents some suggestions on both the editing and using aspects. The author mentions the configuration of the elective lessons and textbooks should be adjusted; the relationship between the compulsive textbooks and the elective textbook should be rethought; the framework should be reconsidered and adjusted etc on the editing. The author also proposes when choosing the textbook, the request of the students should be highlighted; the majoring quality of the Chinese teachers should be boosted; the teacher should use the elective textbooks more flexibly; our nation should established an equitable judging mechanism of Chinese elective lessons etc.
