21st century is a century of lifelong learning, which gradually becomes one of alternatives for our lifestyle. Therefore teachers' professional development should be a continuous and dynamic process through the whole career. Of course this challenges teacher education, which previously took on the main task of pre-service and in-service teacher training .The challenge focuses on the integration of three successive stages: pre-service teacher training, inductive teacher education and in-service teacher training.This paper studies the background and theoretical basis of inductive teacher education, and introduce some practice of inductive teacher education in several major countries. Based on the above, the paper makes a deep analysis on China's implementation of inductive teacher education using the information gained from questionnaires and interview. Aimed at solving the existing problems, this paper combines the successful experience of foreign countries with China's actual conditions to put forwards the principles which inductive teacher education should abide by and specific improving measures.Four parts constitute this paper, and the main points are as follows:Part one introduces the background in which inductive teacher education come into being, and explains relative concepts and significance of this study. This part also presents the methods use in this study.Part two analyzes theoretical bases and practical reference for inductive teacher education. Three factors make up the bases: lifelong learning theory, theory of teacher professional development stages and theory of teacher knowledge structure. While foreign practical experience of inductive teacher education offers China reference to carry out inductive teacher education.Part three takes new teachers in Taizhou city ,Zhejiang province as sample, making investigations on inductive teacher education including the necessity ,form and means , contents and timetable ,directors , workload ,teaching conditions and mental state. And then based on present situation, the paper probes into the causes of the problem.Part four puts forward the principles which inductive teacher education should abide by and specific improving measures on the basis of existing problems.
