The 21st century calls for those with innovative thinking and creation ability. The young generation is on the way to becoming the 21st century builders and successors in our country, hence, their innovative and creation ability will have a direct effect on the future and fate for the whole country and nation. Most of the talents fostered by the traditional education are not creative but inherited. As Doctor Yang Zhenning stated,"The Chinese students with abundant knowledge are good at thinking but poor at imagination and creation."Therefore, only by developing the ability to divergent thinking can students pick it up at the course of studying, in other words, they are expected to shift the thinking modes from different angles, master knowledge in different thoughts from different layers, or think about things from diverse perspectives. Thus, new thought will arise and the thinking will be widened, which, in turn, can cultivate students'exploration and innovation ability. What we are expecting is to cultivate the students'divergent thinking ability.The thesis starts with the analysis of the shortcomings in the traditional teaching, which merely centers on theories and systems rather than practice and divergence. This mode is a kind of pure theoretical classroom teaching. Theories aren't put into practice or understood without being based on practice, which will result in the lack of divergent thinking related to knowledge in books and that is a disadvantage for the cultivation of the creative talents. Considering that situation, the view is put forward that senior students should develop their divergent thinking ability. Besides, the essay states the concept of the divergent thinking and points out it has such characteristics as smoothness, feasibility and uniqueness, which clearly explores the closely relationship between divergent thinking and polymerization thinking, thus describing the characteristics of reality, activeness and purpose for the senior students, though they have some shortcomings in the divergent thinking. Such related knowledge as brain science, psychology and constructivism should be applied as the theoretical basis in cultivating the divergent thinking ability in the ideological politics teaching for the high schools. The cultivation to the students'divergent thinking ability in senior ideological politics should be in accord with the following principles: the mode of the domination for the teachers and the main body for the students, incentive-orientation, linking theory into practice, believing fully and giving a full play to the knowledge potential of a student. The essay also gives a full description of six ways to cultivate students'divergent thinking ability: First, different kinds of lead-ins and humorous words can interest students to study and arouse their divergent thinking awareness. Second, the way of questioning enables them to make out various answers and assumptions by diverse thinking in the required time. Next, the use of allusion can develop the flexibility of the students'divergent thinking; besides, students are expected to come up with some assumptions and plans that are practical and problem-solving with the development of some specific conditions. The adoption of various teaching methods can be beneficial to the uniqueness of divergent thinking ability. What's more, students will get a better understanding of things from unprecedented new angles and perspectives; as a result, their thought will be widened and unique. Varieties of associations can contribute to the comprehension of students'divergent thinking ability, which thus gets them to master the inner linking with the knowledge of the textbooks. In addition, they think over some questions from opposite angles, which can cultivate students'converse thinking capacity, aiming at enhancing students'main part spirits. The students'divergent awareness and thinking should be developed from the practical perspective, thus cultivating the creative talents.Owing to the limited time and my abilities, the study may exist many questions to be further researched.
