In today's world, the development of higher education and the innovation of science and technology has been a determinant factor for the sustainable development of a nation. A study of the rise and fall of a nation, whether longitudinal or cross-sectional, has shown that the ups and downs of a country are closely related to the development of its higher education. Nevertheless, the working spirit of the faculty in colleges and universities is always playing a decisive role in the quality of education, and sometimes, even in the development of higher education at large. Hence the key to the development of higher education is how to fully promote the incentive and initiative of the faculty. Thus the paper mainly concerns the application of the Incentive Theory to the management of human resources in colleges in recent years, particularly its the advantages and disadvantages in this regard. To be specific, the writer aims to explicate how to apply the Inventive Theory and optimize or even perfect the mechanism of the use of it in the management of the faculty in colleges and universities, for the application of this type can not only enhance the incentive and creativity of the teaching and working staffs and thus attract more advanced talents but also achieve great improvement in the education quality and efficiency.
