In the beginning of this century, China initiated the reform of RE and health course. The new idea is to reflect the modernity of RE course, change the status quo of today's RE course that's difficult, complex, biased and old. It means to pay attention to students' in-class interest and experience, attach importance to cultivating students' lifelong sports consciousness and ability. This requires constant expanding of the content and space of RE course with the purpose of promoting the physical and mental health of students and multiple RE activities can be employed. Besides full use of sports stadiums and facilities, natural environment can also be utilized. As a product of RE course reform, orienteering has been part of RE and health course as its extension.Taking advantage of literature research, experimentation, scaling method, mathematical statistics and comparative analysis, this study shows that: 1, The adoption of orienteering into primary school's RE and health course is conducive for the realization of the goal of the course, is conducive for the students' body and heart development ,is conducive for the students' interesting . 2,On improving students' physical properties, orienteering is not different from those traditional P.E activities. On the effects of improving students' physical functions and performances, especially vital capacity, weight index, muscular property, endurance property, orienteering is obviously advantageous than those traditional one in that it can evidently better students' physical properties. 3, Orienteering is conducive for changing students' attitude towards exercise, sufficiently improving students' behavioral attitude, objective attitude, behavioral recognition,, behavioral tendency and emotional experience. These are what traditional RE activities can't achieve. Orienteering confirms to the RE teaching mode of primary schools and the psychological characteristics of students. It makes students accept and like P.E class more from the bottom of their heart. They will have great interest in P.E classes and participate more in sports activities. This will lead to continuous improving of physical health and have an influence on their lifetime willingness to exercise. So the introduction of orienteering in primary school P.E and health curriculum is practicable.
