English teaching in primary schools in China developed positive in the situation of the new curriculum reform. But there are also many problems need to be explored and to be solved, such as curriculum standards, the building of the contingent of teachers, teaching materials, teaching methods, the quality of English teaching at all levels in the whole country, the convergence problem between the primary and junior high school and etc.History and reality are interdependent and mutually infiltration.
