A Research On Home Visits In The Kindergartens

Home visits in the kindergarten means kindergartens' teachers take visits to children's home. Home visits is an important form of family-kindergarten partnership in the kindergarten. Researching on home visits can not only enrich the theories about family-kindergarten partnership, but also make effective use of education's function as a whole, and advance teachers' professional development.Searching quantities of writings relating to home visits domestic and abroad, the author assesses its advantages and disadvantages. And this thesis uses psychology theory, social-psychology theory and culturology theory as theory foundations.Four major approaches applied in the dissertation are questionnaire-survey, interviews, observation and documentary analysis. Gathering and analyzing the information, this study does a all-round and systematic investigation about home visits' intention, preparation, contents, course, difficulties, follow-up work, crucial factors and so on.The result indicates that there are four achievements in home visits: teachers can recognize the unique effects of home visits, accomplish the home visits missions well before the freshmen entry kindergartens, make adequate preparation before home visits, and position the teacher-parent-child relationship properly.The result also indicates that there are three problems existing in home visits at present: management system of kindergartens is still imperfect, there is a gap between practice of home visits in kindergarten and parents' expectation, and it is lack of deep follow-up work..Based on the reality, the author brings forward some advices about home visits. Kindergartens should use a system to normalize and support home visits. Teachers should proceed home visits actively, show their quality, master home visits' skills flexibly and do follow-up work well. Parents should assure they and children are at home while teacher making a visit, and take advantage of their initiative.
