Since the reform of New Curriculum has already stepped into the phase of overall implementation, the New Curriculum puts forward new requirements on the chemistry assignment. It requires to change the current situation of paying too much attention on memorizing and repeating, on the skills of taking exercises, and on the training of Double Bases, and to achieve the development of Three Dimension Goals in chemistry assignment. The assignment design has an attempt to design the chemistry assignment within the framework of New Curriculum, which helps to improve the validity of exercises, to create various curriculum resources, and to enrich and widen the function and meaning of assignment.The current research aims to make a study on chemistry assignment in the curriculum reform by applying questionnaire survey and literature methods. Through a wide questionnaire survey and a close literature review, this study seeks to find the problems in current chemistry assignment and the recent researches on this issue, and then innovatively design chemistry assignment according to the principle of New Curriculum. Assignment, designed by teachers, is a learning task which is the extension of classroom learning. In the early period of the research, it conducts a literature review in order to gain a clear picture of assignment reform and to find out the existing problems against the background of New Curriculum reform. Based on the findings and some similar questionnaires, it designs a new questionnaire about the chemistry assignment for the students of senior middle school. And then it carries out the survey in eight senior middle schools in Zhejiang province, namely Jinhua NO.1 Middle School, Dongyang NO.1 Middle School, Jiaxing NO.1 Middle School, Pujiang NO.1 Middle School, Longyou NO.1 Middle School, Quzhou NO.1 Middle School, Jinhua NO.6 Middle School, and Quzhou NO.3 Middle School, and finds a gap between the fact and the previous literature. The result of survey tells: the amount of chemistry assignment is controlled; students have opportunities to choose chemistry assignment autonomously; students are willing to accept the chemistry assignment which emphasizes the basic knowledge, has an appropriate difficulty and adopts some new styles; both inquiring-oriented and open-ended exercises are popular with students. However, there some problems exist; exercises are too difficult for example. In the middle of research, through a comparison of three sets of teaching materials which are important outcome of New Curriculum reform, it aims to explore the changes of teaching materials after curriculum reform, and to analyze the amount of exercises, the characteristics of exercise and the appreciation of some exercises in the new materials. The findings shed a light in the innovative design of chemistry assignment. At the same time, it moves on a literature review to have more suggestions on assignment reform and design in previous literature. In the late period of research, based on the data and results gained in the former period, it strikes to accomplish an innovative design of the chemistry assignment combining with two type chemistry assignment called written assignment and Practice-based assignment. which is divided practiced or not. Written assignment mainly refers to chemistry exercises in books. On the basis of the traditional exercises and the requirements of New Curriculum, it increases the proportion of open-ended exercises. inquiring-oriented exercises and situational exercises, analyzes the characteristics and traits of these three type exercises, and innovatively design specific assignments. Practice-based chemistry assignment mainly refers to chemistry experiments. It proposes to open the chemistry lab to guarantee students' availability to chemistry experiments. Practice-based assignments can be divided into students' experiments, teachers' experiments, autonomous experiments, micro-self-designed experiments. Incorporating the features of chemistry experiments and computer science, this research originally puts forward Virtual Experiments as chemistry assignment.This research not only enriches the type, content and meaning of chemistry assignment in senior middle school, but provides suggestions and implications for teacher to design chemistry assignment. In addition to the practical significance mentioned above, the various assignments designed in this research are hoped to promoting the development of students in chemistry learning.
