This thesis mainly studies the issue of the vocational development of junior English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality. At the crossing period of centuries, the course reform of elementary education has been given unprecedented universal attention throughout the world and drives a new round of course reform of elementary education in our country and the vocational development of teachers is the key element to advance the course reform. The path of the professional development of junior high school teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality is comparatively short and it starts rather late with rather rare research findings. Therefore, it is crucially urgent and significant to study the issue of adapting to the trends and requirements of the vocational development of teachers and the course reform of elementary education and speeding up the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality.The thesis will focus on the following major contents by employing relevant theories such as pedagogy, psychology, education for teachers, the vocational development of teachers, English pedagogy, etc. and adopting the research methods of document method, survey method as well as comparative method, etc.: the first is to understand the status quo of the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality; second is to analyze the influencing factors and the situation of prominent differences of the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality; third is to analyze the demand and assurance of the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality; forth is to probe into the characteristics, deficiencies and causes of the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality and explore the solutions for the problems.After research, I arrive at the following conclusions: (1) in the respect of specialization of teachers, the level of overall specialization is comparatively low and the stability of the teaching team is rather poor, thus cannot adapt to the trends and requirements of the vocational development of teachers as well as the reform and development of new curriculums; (2) in the respect of the vocational development of teachers, the concept of the vocational development of teachers is highly acknowledged; the knowledge of noumenon and conditional knowledge appear to be insufficient, but the practical knowledge is quite good; the teachers have enough basic competence but lack in the competence of the vocational development; (3) age, years of teaching and the specialty are the elements that influence the vocational development of teachers; (4) the teachers have a large demands of the vocational development and are in desperate need of strengthening the guarantee for the vocational development of teachers; the polices and school conditions are quite good but the training guarantee is comparatively insufficient; (5) The notable problems here are that the specialization level of teachers is comparatively low and the stability of the teaching team is rather poor; the knowledge of noumenon of the vocational development of teachers and the competence of the vocational development is rather insufficient; and the training guarantee of the vocational development of the teachers remains to be further strengthened.The following proposals are put forward by taking into consideration the key and prominent problems existing in the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality: the first is to attach importance to the issue of the vocational development of junior high school English teachers of Yanbian Korean nationality; second is to renew the educational concept and strengthen the independent development of teachers; third is to enhance the training guarantee.
